Before the day
- Agree colours and finishes and test samples on the wall
- Confirm what's included: ceilings, woodwork, repairs, clean-up
- Tell the painter about pets, parking and alarm codes
On the day
- Clear small items, ornaments and pictures from walls and shelves
- Empty the tops of wardrobes and chests of drawers
- Keep children and pets away from the rooms being painted
What a good painter does
- Moves and covers furniture
- Protects floors, sockets and switches
- Fills, sands and primes before painting
- Cleans up and puts things back
After
Keep windows slightly open for ventilation, don't hang pictures back for a day or two, and keep a little leftover paint for touch-ups.

Do I have to be home while you paint?
