Exterior paint in Donegal has to cope with wind-driven rain, salt air near the coast and long damp winters. We use breathable masonry paints that let moisture escape from the wall while keeping rain out. That is what stops the blistering and flaking you often see on painted render.
When is the best time to paint outside?
We paint exteriors from roughly April to September, on dry days above about 8°C, after the morning dew has gone. We watch the forecast closely and will move a day rather than paint onto a damp wall. Book your survey early in spring to get a slot in the best weeks.
Repairs first, then paint
Painting over cracked render only hides the problem for a season. We rake out and fill cracks, fix loose patches and treat green algae before any paint goes on. You get a clear list of what we found and what we fix before you agree the price.

Questions about exterior & facades
Do you need scaffolding?
For most bungalows and two-storey houses we use ladders and towers. If scaffolding is needed, it is included in your quote upfront.
How long does exterior paint last?
A properly prepared wall painted with quality masonry paint typically lasts many years in Donegal conditions. Coastal and exposed walls need attention sooner.
What if it rains during the job?
We stop and protect fresh work. Rain days are built into the plan, and you are never charged extra for weather.
Do you paint pebble-dash?
Yes. Pebble-dash takes more paint and a thicker roller, which is reflected in the quote.
